The Pause that Refreshes

Sitting on our usual perch mid-way on our walk, I spied these two re-filling their drinks.

Same, same, only different!

I hope your day left you some time to get "refreshed".

Happy Monday!

Fun with an "etch-a-sketch"

After Kindergarten yesterday my Granddaughter Abby was wondering what she could do instead of watching "something on TV", so I handed her this little magnetic sketcher and asked her to draw me something.

First she drew a frame then divided it into 4 parts.  I asked her what she was going to draw, and she said, "things I don't like".   This is what she drew and it cracked me up.

From left to right, on the top:
A stinky apple core   A Skunk (smiling skunk!)

On the bottom:
A candle "because you can get burned"
Poo! (amazing that she can spell that already!)

What a little character she is.

She also created a pattern at school today, drawing Butterflies and Rainbows.  See if you are as smart as Kindergartner!  Can you figure out the pattern?

Meanwhile, little Brother Hudson was very busy with his barnyard friends.

But not before he dipped his little Easter Bunny in the ketchup.

Or before Nanny washed his beautiful little face.
Same, Same, only different!
I love how he posed with his arms behind his head.

I had a wonderful visit with these lovely Grandchildren yesterday.  Only trouble is, I miss their smiles and funnies terribly today.

I wonder what you'd be drawing on an "etch-a-sketch" today if I handed you one.  Have fun thinking them up, in fact, draw them out right now and message me with your 4 picture ideas.

Happy Friday!

Break-Fast

Breakfast, the best meal of the day, and today was no exception.

"Same, same, only different"

Add a slice of toast, a cup of tea and My Beloved, that equals an excellent start to the day in my book!

I sure hope you had an excellent start to your day too.

Happy Saturday.

Life Imitates Art or Vice Versa

Yesterday when My Beloved and I were out walking on the relatively snow free parking lot of the local movie complex, seeing tire tracks in the snow, he recalled a drawing he had done in sketch book from his old Vancouver School of Art days.  That got me to thinking about today's picture(s) and how I might go about incorporating it into today's blog.

Incorporate I did.  Here's the drawing, circa 1962.  I can tell you his teacher liked it, because there is a wee pencilled "x" in the corner.  If you look closely you can see it on the bottom left.

He drew this scene from the second floor window of the old elementary school that housed the first year art students.  A piece of trivia:  the car second from the bottom was his old '53 Chevy.  The same one we had when we got married.

Snow bound car in the neighbourhood.

Let's make tracks!

I hope the tracks you made today navigated you home safely!

Happy Thursday everyone.

Same Same, Only Different

Out walking in the snow this afternoon with my beloved, we watched these two ducks traverse the frozen waterway, sometimes swimming, sometimes walking, over the frozen ice.  I can't even spot them in this picture they are that far back.

We watched them in amazement and awe just imagining what it must be like to be out in nature during this cold time.  They ended up on the log, the one jutting out from the bank on the right.

When they settled down, we realized that they were positioned very much like the 2 brass birds my beloved bought for me many Christmas' ago.  Hence, the Same Same, Only Different title.  The phrase is a shout out to our daughter Amy, and husband Tyler, who visited Thailand about this time several years ago.  According to Amy this was a very popular phrase used by the vendors. I liked the way Amy told me about her various purchases using this phrase and now I like to use it whenever I can!

Aren't they beautiful?

Same Same, Only Different?

Happy Monday everyone.  Stay warm.
