Seeing Red, Day 6

This sign always catches my eye when we either walk or drive past it on 88th.  It used to be called "Knit Cafe" where people were free to come in to knit, share tips and tricks, buy patterns and wool, and to chat and sip coffee.  Now it is simply a yarn shop.  In fact, I used this very place as an enticement to my dear Mother-in-law, an avid knitter who always has wool and knitting needles close at hand.  I'd always hoped by telling her about it that she would move out our way.  Sad to say, so far it hasn't been enough to get her to move out here but I won't give up on the idea though.

I love the red ball of wool and the knitting needle underlining the shop name.

I sure hope something or someone kept you in stitches today!

Happy Tuesday.

Seeing Red, Day 5

This was a delightful find on one of our longer walks!

It was such a warm and sunny day that this lone mitten wasn't missed and got left behind.  Some kind person picked it up and placed it on the light standard.  I'll bet you've done that too, hopefully not the lost part, but found something and put it where hopefully the owner could find it.

If this is your mitten, collect it at the corner of 216th and 88th in Walnut Grove!

On our many walks we've found earrings, a ladies tartan jacket, keys, baby blankets, hoodies, baby hats, children's warm winter mittens, also an expensive, baby's Nike shoe.  We try and put them up where they'll be noticeable and reclaimed.  I'm glad to report that each of these items was claimed.  Perhaps not by the owner, but claimed nonetheless.  The only thing I don't try and return is money, unless the owner is right there, but more on that in a future blog.

Here's hoping for you that once was lost, is now found!

Happy Monday.

Seeing Red, Day 4

Ah Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.  Time to kick back and just relax and enjoy the day.  That's what I'm all about this afternoon. I just finished watching a chick flick "Bridal Wars", a silly film I PVR'd months ago, but also a guilty pleasure watching it instead of walking.  A good day!

I'm hoping that the people on who's porch this lovely red rocking chair sits, have grabbed a few minutes in the lovely sunshine and rocked it.  It looks so inviting.

I sure hope your Sunday rocks too!

Have a great day.

Seeing Red, Day 3

I'm pretty sure if you know me very well, well let's just say you'll be laughing at me for today's picture!

This is pure Canadiana, a hockey net just sitting there in the middle of cul-de-sac waiting for the next big game.  So in honour of a Saturday night tradition, Hockey Night in Canada, here it is!
I direct you to: http://www.cbc.ca/television/ for the score.

She shoots, she scores!

I sure hope your day was a win, win for you.
Happy Saturday!

Seeing Red, Day 2

Not sure why this spatula was under a tree, on the boulevard.  It looked like it was perfectly useable.  (Also, not sure why my reds look bleached out and orangish, [prepping you for pictures to come!], but it was a lovely shade of red.

Perhaps it was out looking for an egg and a frying pan.  All I know is there is a story here somewhere.

I sure hope your day serves you up something nice!

Happy Friday everyone.

Seeing Red

In honour of Valentine's Day later in the month, up to and including Valentine's Day, photos of red objects that I happpened upon, mostly on our daily walks, but not limited to.

The inspiration for this theme came to me on a very wet and windy walk last Autumn.  Looking miserably down down to the ground, skulking along under my umbrella, I spotted the most perfect Red Maple Leaf on the black wet pathway.  It was stunning. For some reason that lowly but beautiful picture stayed with me. Since it is this month's inspiration, I hope, come Fall I'll "find" that visual again and this time I'll have my camera.

A tangle of red skipping ropes were just laying by the pathway at a nearby elementary school.

I hope you can untangle yourself from the cares of the day, even if only for the briefest of moments.

Happy Thursday and Happy Groundhog Day!
