Each time we walk along the pathway that runs paralell to HWY 1, we pass this wonderful, old tree.  We suspect in early days that this tree and about 4 more in the same age range and area, probably belonged to a farm before everything was subdivided.

The tenacity of this tree is amazing.  It's branches have been cut off or rotted off.  The poor old thing is totally out of balance.  I'm not sure how it does it, but so far, it lives on, despite the moss, ferns, distorted branches, and huge hole in the formerly main tree trunk.  Even more surprising to me, it continues to throw out live shoots.

If you look down the hole on the top of the trunk stump, you can see light coming through from the hole on the side of the trunk.

The backside, facing north, all covered in moss and ferns.

Most of the branches look like this

Beauty is in the eye of this beholder, live on old tree, live on!

Sincerely hoping you find the beauty in something today.  Happy Sunday.
